* To identify 10.8 MHz IF crystals for Bearcat Radios...
To identify a Bearcat 10.8 MHz IF crystal, look for labels on the crystal itself that indicate it's from a Bearcat brand, such as "A-135," "MCS-2," "BCM," "BCCH," "BCT," "JK-5," or "ECS-2". You can also calculate the crystal's frequency using the formula (Listening Frequency + 10.8 MHz) / 3 for the UHF band and (Listening Frequency + 10.8 MHz) for the low band to see if it matches known Bearcat frequencies.

This was the Great-Grand Dad of the radio line! I have two(2) of these for sale. See the photos link below for condition and price.
The Bearcat I is a one-band VHF High or Lo, 8 channel crystal controlled scanner depending on model. Crystals are not provided. This radio will scan these channels and automatically stop on a channel when a call is heard. Channels may also be manually selected. Each channel features a red lamp and an individual lock-out switch allowing you to skip channels not of interest at the time. The Bearcat features a metal cabinet. Scanning is at 25 channels per second. There is a an external Motorola antenna jack on the rear panel. Operation is from 117 VAC or 12 VDC. Size is 9 x 3.675 x 6.125 inches. 5 lbs., all approx.
The Bearcat Models I & II are easily identified by thier round speaker grill, and the lack of a chrome trim around the face. Also did not have swapable band modules, they came from ELECTRA with a dedicated band installed.

The Bearcat III is a one-band or two-band, 8 channel crystal controlled scanner. Crystals are not provided. Scanning is at 25 channels per second. There is a an external speaker jack (RCA) and an external Motorola antenna jack on the rear panel. Operation is from 117 VAC or 12 VDC. 9 x 3.675 x 6.125 inches. 5 lbs.
This model was configurable (by plug-in modules) for either single or two band operation, selectable from the five bands listed below.

I currently have two(2) of these for sale. Neither of these include crystals in the sale.
This radio is the next generation up from the Model III. The Bearcat IV is a table and mobile model, four-band FM monitor receiver providing automatic scanning of 8 channels in all of the four Public safety/Business Bands at 30-50mHz, 146-l74m]Hz, 450-470mH2, and 470-512mHz. Its features include: Full-band coverage in all 4 bands; 8 plug-in crystals in any combination may be used; high speed automatic or manuai scanning; channel switches to omit scanning of undesired channels; solid state Light Emitting Diode channel indicators; quieting squelch control; front-mounted 3"x5" speaker; external speaker jack; cables for 110V ac or 12V dc operation; and operation from a single telescoping or outside antenna.

This model also features and Aircraft Search and Marine Search to sweep the respective air and marine service bands. Scanning is at 5 or 15 channels per second.
